Most packaging lines start out simple. You’ve got one high-intensity infrared (IR) lamp. When a tube burns out, you swap it. You nudge the height up or down a bit. You basically just cross your fingers and hope the heat stays even across the line. But once you start scaling up for high-speed aluminum sealing, that “tinker and hope” method falls apart. Too many things can go wrong. That’s why we stopped focusing on the individual lamp and started looking at the entire sealing module. It just removes the guesswork.

Here’s the thing about aluminum lids: they’re like mirrors for heat. They reflect a ton of thermal energy back. To get a clean seal without accidentally melting the plastic rim, you need shortwave IR that hits hard and fast. We use high-wattage quartz lamps to concentrate that energy into a tight band, so the heat punches through the lid layer instantly. But there’s a catch. These lamps gethot. Like, really hot. If your cooling fans or heat sinks aren’t exactly right, the housing can warp. Once that happens, your focal point drifts, and suddenly your seals aren’t sealing.
